YOUR GUIDE
Joe Wells grew up in Newberg, Oregon and always enjoyed the outdoors. He spent many days hiking with family and being in the outdoors, but the fishing bug caught him at an early age and turned into a major obsession as he got older. Joe attended Oregon State University and majored in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences and was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He probably should have become an engineer, but Joe spent too much time skipping class chasing winter steelhead on the Alsea. Joe went on to a career in sales after graduating college, which led to some great life experiences and is where he met his wife Alex. Joe has since settled down in St Paul with his beautiful wife Alex and sweet daughter Adley.

SEASONS
WINTER STEELHEAD
Mid December- mid April
The longest season on the Oregon coast, steelhead, starts before Christmas and continues with good numbers well into spring. Catch the rivers on the drop after a good rainstorm and you are sure to find fresh fish willing to bite. With enhancements to the broodstock programs, fishing is strong well into April.
SPRING CHINOOK
May through mid July.
Arguably our best table fair to bring home, coastal spring chinook begin coming back into catchable numbers in May and last until the middle of July when the season closes due to retention. Early mornings and challenging fishing are the norm, but the reward is well earned.
SUMMER STEELHEAD
May-September
Often forgotten by other anglers, summer steelhead provide a fun and relaxing fishery all summer long. Stealth and light presentation is key, but these fish in warmer water often put up incredible fights. Don’t forget to bring your sunglasses and sunscreen!
FALL CHINOOK
October-mid December
If you are interested in big baits, big fish, and big fights our coastal chinook are for you. After the first major freshet in the fall, fall chinook make their way back from the ocean to the rivers and streams to be targeted by eager anglers. Good bait and variety is key to constant success, so let your guide handle that and you be ready to battle salmon ranging from 15-40 lbs.
